Command Master Chief Janine M. Tschantz-Hahn assumed the duties as the Reserve Command Master Chief for the 7th Coast Guard District in September 2013. Her primary responsibility is to advise the Commander of the 7th Coast Guard District on issues and initiatives pertaining to all Coast Guard Reserve members and their families throughout the District, encompassing Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, and Puerto Rico.

CMC Tschantz-Hahn’s previous assignments include being the first Reserve Command Master Chief of Sector Miami, FL. As a Boatswain Mate she held positions as Senior Reservist of Station Fort Pierce, FL; Officer of the Day, Coxswain and Boarding Officer at Station Key West, FL; Station Golden Gate, CA; Station San Francisco, CA; and Coast Guard Group San Francisco, CA. 

CMC Tschantz-Hahn’s personal awards include the Coast Guard Commendation Medal, two Coast Guard Achievement Medals with operational distinguishing device, Commandant’s Letter of Commendation with operational distinguishing device, Armed Forces Reserve Medal with Mobilization Device, and numerous other individual and unit awards. She has also earned a permanent Coxswain insignia and Boat Forces Operations insignia. 

A native of San Jose, California, CMC Tschantz-Hahn enlisted in September 1992 and completed over nine years on active duty. As a Reservist she has been recalled to active duty several times for contingencies and had the opportunity to sail a full summer in CGC EAGLE. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Middle Grades Mathematics from Indian River State College. She is a graduate of the Senior Enlisted CMC Course, Chief Petty Officer Academy Reserve Class 19, CG Maritime Law Enforcement Instructor Course, and the 47’ MLB Heavy Weather Coxswain Course.

CMC Tschantz-Hahn is married to BMCM Joe Mathieu, USCG (ret) and they have three children, Alyse, Jakob and Jordyn.
